Went to meet up with some of the http://www.jdm-usdm.com guys for their weekly meet in Enoshima. This really clean GX71 Mark 2 owned by Endo-san was chilling will them. The rims are SSR EX-Cs, I hope he has the center caps or finds a set because it would really add the final touch to the car.

One of the guys at Sky Garage is Mizuno-san who has this S14 you see below. He has chosen to take a different route than modern drift cars and instead run very small rims with a lot of dish. This is more like the early 90`s drift style in my opinion. One thing to note is the really nice fender work on the rear which is all molded fiberglass, it give the car a hint of R32. In addition is the Navan style front bumper. Interesting story behind the bumper is that the original manufacturer was located in north eastern Japan where the large earthquake and tsunami happened on March 11th. The facility was completely destroyed and the mold swept away making it this bumper an extremely rare piece. The interior has been given the full suede treatment. I am usually not a fan of this but it looks really good here. The car is currently being equipped with some E-brake upgrades.

Here is another one of my favorite moments from JCCA.
After browsing the farther paved lot i finally worked my way to the closer dirt lot. The atmosphere here is amazing too, always with a slight haze in the air from the dust being kicked up from car tires and people walking here and there. As i walked down the driveway this this the site i was greeted with. I didn`t know it as the time but these guys are members of the car club `God Speed Yuu` I later found some of them again in April at the Fuji Jamboree (link). I think the one word that describes these guys is `presence` everybody in the lot was gawking when they were rolling out. It is not just the cars either look at the driver! he really looks like a real yakuza motherfu*ker!

I was just looking through some of my old pictures i took at the JCCA Meet this past year... Here is one of my favorites.
Goldrush GX71. It is a really surreal feeling to unexpectedly see a car that you have one or two blurry pictures of stored on your hard drive always thinking `i wish i could see it in person` and there it is right in front of you. For me this is the GX71 to end all GX71s. Not over the top but still maintaining those kaido racer touches. The gold SSR Star Sharks absolutely make the car, the sharp spokes pair with the GX71 body shape perfectly. It looked totally amazing in the early February morning.

Back in the day me and my friends joked that we should buy a civic make our own cardboard `invader style` body kit line the vents with chicken wire and put real chickens on the inside then enter it into a local show for laughs... while we never did get around to it we always wondered how horrible you could make a car and still enter it in a show well here is your answer.
This guy got a Civic coupe and chopped the roof off. It looked like he did it with a Sawzall.
I`m not sure if this guy was serious or dicking around or a little of both
Nothing like rolling in some Type R Recaros with the top permanently down
Always important to have extra bracing for more chassis rigidity also check out that `racing` harness!... oh and an amp for your ipod is a nice touch
Amazingly this car is still registered. Basically once the safety check it up the car is going to be disposed of.
