Turns out it wasn`t his oil pan but his transmission housing that had cracked.
Yup, that`s gonna cost more than an oil pan... Japanese people have manners, the owner and his friends promptly started cleaning up the mess his car made. In the end another slammed 3 series ended up towing the car home...
